Hey Im a Newbie and i found this Thread after an Embarrassing Night of taking pics in a place that did not agree with my Camera. I Have a EOS XTi and a Kit Lens and Bower Auto focus Flash ( Which is apparently Sucky and Cheap). Anyway, I want to know what are the best setting recommended for a night club scene and such.

I am heading to B&H to get a canon 430ex and a Lightshp II in a bit.

SO basically i wanted to know I had my Cemera in TV mode and the Flash would not Fire sometimes. But it would when i aimed @ the floor. I want to get alot of Light into the photos But i dont want have any blur ether. how can i go about this?

Hi D33, welcome to the forum.

When you get your 430ex learn how to bounce the flash to create diffuse light.

This is a good place to start for using flash: http://photonotes.org/articles/eos-flash/ (external link)
Also, this guy's pretty good with flash: http://www.joemcnally.com/blog/ (external link)
And also: http://strobist.blogspot.com/2006/03/lighting-101.html (external link)

Get stuck in here and don't be afraid to ask silly questions. Most people will give sensible answers.

Have fun! :D

Welcome to POTN. That looks like the flash is on a stand top-left with maybe a small softbox.

It certainly appears to be diffused light of some sort. Could be a soft box, a Lumisphere, or something equivalent.

It is clearly NOT direct flash.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!
