Hello,

I'm shopping for a 50mm f/1.8 and I noticed that amazon sells them from many merchants. If I purchase from amazon's website but its from another merchant....is it still considered a canon authorized dealer? Is that even important? I just wanted to make sure I get the warranty since that lens is poor build quality.

Is there a better place to buy this lens?

Thanks

I don't think so, if the merchants it self isn't a dealer.

Newegg has it for $99. But it is a 50/50 chance you still get the warranty from what people have posted here, some say Newegg is a dealer and then some say they are not, then it is said they have to have a street store and then some say they don't need a store on a street to be authorized dealer.

Myself, I know $100 is $100, but for that lens I wouldn't worry to much about it and if for anything Newegg (in this case) is real good on taking things back under the manufacture warranty period.

WHO was the Merchant? Adorama, Cameta, and lots of other REAL dealers sell through Amazon, so there's a good chance you used an authorized dealer.

I would always buy through amazon, even if you have to pay a little bit more. it's worth it
