This past week, I ordered the same exact prints from seven different printing companies. These companies were Miller's, Mpix Pro, Blackriver Imaging, Ez-Prints, Bay Photo, H&H, and WHCC. Of all these, Mpix Pro resulted in the sharpest images with the most accurate color. Miller's came in second, which really suprised me, Bay Photo third and H&H fourth.

The other three print labs were obviously lower quality. EZ-Prints had a very pixilated look. Blackriver's images were overly warm looking and WHCC just lacked sharpness. Of the companies I tested, Ez-Prints and Blackriver were the obvious losers. Some of there photos were so soft that the images looked out of focus.

If anyone has any suggestions for other print labs, I would like to check more. For now, it seems that I will be using Mpix Pro, Miller's, and Bay Photo. All three of them produced top quality images and the turnaround time was unbelievable. The shipping is great on all three also. IIRC, Miller's shipping was free, Mpix Pro's was $4 for orders under $100, and Bay Photo's shipping was $1.50 for orders over $12. I received all within two days of ordering.

Thanks for the info.. I'll have to check it out!

When I received my samples, there was a white sticker that said "Welcome t mpixpro(or whatever)" holding the big envelope together.... will that be on there if it's drop shipped to the customer?

I don't use drop shipments but my understanding of them is that they would not make any reference to mpixpro. A side note: I have not received an envelope with any orders since the test batch.

FWIW, Mpix, Mpix Pro, and Millers are all the same thing. Same lab, same location, same machines, same technicians -- different brands.

Drop shipping from Mpix, MpixPro or Millers all do not include any info about the printing company or any invoice info. It is meant to be shipped to clients.

I know they are all owned by the same company, but when I ordered prints, they didn't all come from the same address, they aren't printed on the same printers, and there is an obvoius difference in the prints.

The difference in the prints alone either tells me that they use different labs for each "company," or that the labs are inconsistant. I sent the exact same files to Miller's and Mpix Pro. The prints were shipped to me from different states. There was also obvious differences in the color and sharpness of the prints.
