This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new tricks when it comes to editing.

Here's the breakdown of the game. I will post a picture that I choose, resized to exactly 1024 pixels maximum on the long side. Outside of being resized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to any levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera.

The game will last 72hrs and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.

Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #205".

This is all about having fun so have at it!!!

This round will end Sunday July 26th at 10AM CST.

mmmmmmmmm Cake. & it was delicious once all the fondant was torn off ;)

Cropped, brightened, cloned out cracks in the cake, added cake topper and pearls, created new cake imprint for the ribbon with swirl brush, embossed the swirl brush strokes, changed hue of ribbon and flowers, created background with omni lighting effect.

In CS3 - Duplicated layer - cut out cake (ha) - edited out everything but the cake - copied a cake layer - moved it - sized it - erased to fit- took flower and moved it - erased - blended - took corner of cake moved to other corner -added text- blended - ran kabota action to entire cake - took and created background layer - then took a grunge star texture - added the texture layer - erased - blended a bit - took the entire image into Aperture ran the NIK color effects pro for more effect.

In Photoshop removed the cracks on the cake using the clone tool. In Lightroom made the following adjustments: WB: took some blue out, Exposure+, Recovery+, Blacks+, Clairty+, Vibrance-, applied Medium Contrast, brought greens saturation down a tad, back into Photoshop for unsharp mask (30,60,10).

Lore - I'm off om Holiday starting bright and early tomorrow so this is just for fun :)

I wanted to try a 60's model style hat (which were always over the top), so I made many of the same cake changes others had done, and then transform/warp to give it the proper tilt. I think it has sort of a veloure/velvety feel.

I'll miss you all, and NO PARTIES in the house while Mom and I are gone, ok?

Been too busy this week, so here is a quick and dirty one. It's got loads of faults but it is just for fun after all.:)

Layer via cut
add to background
repeat with other images
background eraser

DOH! SO SORRY... I am a bad host  1 sick son, 1 son that learned about electricity today  ( he's alright ;) ) *sigh* never a dull moment...

ok...

FstopMiami123 - Interesting look... not to my tastes & copied from the contest rules/requests: they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out. basically next time please share what you did, maybe you went into Light room and clicked 1 button to use a preset, maybe you used a photoshop action, maybe you did several steps to achieve what you did, maybe someone REALLY likes it and would like to reproduce it in their images & would like to know ;) you get the picture. Great job tho.

starrynigh8 - lol very creative edit. I really like what you have added to the cake & the editing of the cake flaws are well done, the background is really nice. Well done.

stathunter - that is one superstar cake huh? lol ;) complete with glowing flowers. although when you lightened the opacity of the cake you can see the background through it & if I 'must' cratique more I suppose 'Lore's Cakes' could have had a curve as to look like it was 'on' the cake rather than pasted on the photo. Good job tho.

MntnRnnr - 'close' to how I really edited the image for my friend who's wedding this was from. Nice Edit.

Kendoway - you crack me up LOL, hilarious edit... the cake makes a LOVELY hat... too bad its got cracks in the top :p

ColinUK - Thats one SWEET MOUNTIAN! har har har  fun edit. lol.

Before & After #204 goes to starrynigh8 !!!

Take it away!

& just to show what I did to the photo when I edited it when I did the photos for my friends wedding that these are from.
