Here are some photos that I took this past Sunday, 7/19/09 of some Humpback Whales on Stellwagen Bank. It was an amazing day of whale watching. We got to watch hungry whales feeding and were then treated to a frisky little calf who breached a few times.
#1 - Etch-a-Sketch starting to kick feed (slapping her tail on the surface to stun fish).

#2 - Etch-a-Sketch "dragging" which is a technique used to filter water out of it's mouth to swallow fish.

#3 - Etch-a-Sketch blew bubbles to trap the fish. As she came up to catch the fish a whale named Vulture came in and stole some! Kind of ironic given her name, Vulture.

#7 - Trident fluking (the rip on her right fluke is from a previous entanglement in fishing gear).
