many of the staff I encountered were in a similar position to you, who were there for the job and the benefits of being able to see the place.

And it almost makes me want to dump everything, buy the Canon 400mm Diffractive Optics f/4 IS USM (not an L, surprisingly), a gimbal head, pair of 1DM2N's and move to Yellowstone to photograph those awesome beasts.
My work has currently taken me to Australia, as my photography will give away. Home is many hours north by plane, somewhere in the exotic Far East
while it sounds like a great adventure, it wears off after a while and for this Christmas all I ask for is a 724ISL and the ability to go back and drink coffee with my crew back home
