Hey guys I shot this a little while ago. This is the new Hyundai Vera Cruz. We are putting together a calendar for customers. Please give me your honest opinions on this:

I like it, Jamie. Kind of a "Cute Ute" look to it. Seems a tad underexposed, perhaps? I like the composition, though.

Great shot, Jamie... The sky looks a little washed out though (one of the downsides of exposing for what's important, I guess).

How about a gradient on the sky to darken it up a bit, help out with increasing the drama of the shot.

Woot!! Well done, man....

I've had bad news in that the buyer for my flat has now pulled out after a negative survey. So, I'm not quite sure what to do next.

I'm in a bit of a pickle, that's for sure.

That doesn't sound good at all. Now that I am caught up...I can delete my stupid question Pete...sorry about that...I can understand home inspections finding serious flaws that are going to cost the buyer some major bucks to remedy...but stupid stuff like paint on an outlet cover is absurd...that doesn't have any real bearing on the value of a home.

That doesn't sound good at all. What is a negative survey?

Basically it means it failed the structural inspection that the potential buyer's mortgage company orders in order to decide if the house is well built enough to buy.

These surveys aren't to fixed guidelines, so different people carrying out the survey might have different ideas about things. I think I just hit a strict one this time around.

I told you to replace those cardboard walls and the asbestos insulation. The Balsa wood trusses are no good either.

I don't know how. But I am willing to learn?

Quickie tutorial:-

In photoshop, go to the channels part (just next to "Levels")

Press "G" to go into gradient mode. You'll see the toolbar change to the gradient settings. In the drop-down, you'll see a set of gradient types you can apply, choose the one that's checkerboard on the right, blending to black on the left.

Put your cursor at the top of the shot and drag downward vertically (you'll see a line appear between the initial point and where your mouse is.

Just drag down about 2/3's and see how that goes....

Jamie - something else to try is the "Burn" tool. I just tried it out on your sky and it does help a bit... Let me know if you need help getting started with it.

Jamie. This is just a quickie play with the gradient tool (the starting colour can be changed around if you so wish. I just used black here so you can see the effect).

And if you start the gradient drag a fair way above the pic, then it'll start at the top with a lighter shade...
