Hey Scott...I changed my export to prophotorgb and seem to be having better luck with that (it was in srgb but lightroom does it's work in prophotorgb according to the help section) and I'm wondering if that was making a difference in my colors...anyway, they are seeming more true to my screen anyway (thus far anyway).

A new language to me

it was to me until yesterday....I couldn't figure out why I was editing something in lightroom and it looked great but then I'd export it and it'd look over saturated (even when I didn't use saturation), especially in the yellow tones, and way too contrasty...so I'm just trying to figure out which color profile (thing) to export in so that my final product matches my callibrated screen...

here's an example of the difference...(to me the second one looks more like RL)

edited in lightroom and exported using srgb

As you know I had lots of problems with my external harddisk, then ordered a new which was completely unreliable. And today I then got yet a new one.

I ordered a Buffalo LinkStation Live (external link).

I got it all setup and copied my data to it and it just works. This is still a temporary solution but network attached is definately the way to go. Now I can very conveniently access my photos from both my statinary pc and my laptop.

And iTunes even recognised it so I can store mp3 files on it and iTunes see them. This also means that my Denon surround receiver can access it.

At the end of the year I will invest in this NAS: Thecus N5200 (external link) and 5 x 500 GB or 750 GB disks setup in RAID 6.

The Buffalo sounds like it would be nice to have around, especially since you can plug another usb harddisk into it. Though the Thecus would be nice too.

All photographs are there to remind us of what we forget. In this - as in other ways - they are the opposite of paintings. Paintings record what the painter remembers. Because each one of us forgets different things, a photo more than a painting may change its meaning according to who is looking at it. ~John Berger
