430EX is good value. I use this for ALL my events and so far, the flash has never ran out of power. I've even fired it in drive mode at certain events and it has worked great. If I am operating at max flash power, that means I'm making a mistake. There has really only been one situation where I have truly needed max power and that is to fill shadows (with HSS on, which robs power) in daylight.
