Nemo sucked. I didn't like it much at all.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. That's turning out to be the most popular one of all for Disney/Pixar as far as park attractions go, and I just don't understand why. Two of the newest and best attractions at Disneyland are based on that ride (Turtle Talk with Crush and the new Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage). There's also the fairly new Monster's Inc. ride, but that one is very boring and they obviously put little thought into it.

There's nothing for Cars yet except for Lightning and Mater, who drive out at California Adventure for people to take pictures of themselves standing next to, though supposedly there's a ride based on the movie on the drawing board. There are also rumors of a new Incredibles ride in the works that will finally use the old Peoplemover track that's been empty for years. Then there's the ride based on Toy Story that is actually past the rumor stage and under construction. That one's supposed to open sometime next year.

[rant] You're not the only one. Here's my theory on Nemo. It was totally laden with Politically Correct messages and the "Embrace the Diversity" mentality. This was totally lost on the kids. They didn't get that message at all. It was a cute fish story. The adults, however, were annoyed with the how "ThoughtPolice" mindset. At least I was. A cartoon should be entertaining, not an attempt to wrap my mind around current issues. Nothing wrong with the issues, mind you. But in a cartoon? C'mon. [/rant]

I tend to ramble. Feel free to put me on ignore.

Thanks! After I watched the movie with my coworker, he asked me if I liked it. I immediately replied no, but never really have been able to explain to him exactly why. I wasn't even sure myself. I must have picked up on that without consciously realizing it.

I thought it was "cute", but there was just something about it that struck me wrong. Now, I'm going to have to rent it and watch it again just to be sure that was it.

Wow - I have to watch it again... I don't remember thinking any of that (there are other cartoons and movies where I feel like they are laying a political story over the top, but I don't remember Nemo being one of them....

I do like the Seagulls and the Sea Turtles -- they were funny.

Man...you guys are strange;) ...Nemo rocks! Someone spent a lot of time actually watching clownfish and tangs (actually all the marine and aquatic life) to pick up on all the subtle nuances of characters. It really is like watching the fish in my aquariums talk. And I don't recall seeing any of the PC commentary...aquarium fish have a very strict hierarchy...and those that don't play usually end up as dinner for one of the other players...or beat to a pulp...

I have recorded it for posterity on my trusty Panasonic/Leica P&S. I will upload the photos in my hotel later.

Excited?
