Glass and optics certainly play a role...but exposure is a huge factor as is the lighting. Nailing down the exposure will not eliminate CA...but it certainly helps to minimize the effect, often to the extent that it isn't noticeable.

I don't think I'd buy any more gear... I am perfectly content with my line-up. But is Skip happy with his line-up? Permagrin wrote in post #3468848 Moooooorning everyone I went to bed at 9:30 last night and just woke up about 15 min. ago! This little camper was worn out from playing yesterday. Anyone doing anything fun today? Not sure... maybe.. I want to play with my off-camera flash a bit... might go over to a friends new house to see if we can hook him up to the Internet. Maureen Souza wrote in post #3468859 I am working on birthday gifts for my daughters...they both have August b-days. I am making them a fold-out 4x6 scrapbook of photos I took of them dancing at a party. They are going to be titled "Girls Gone Wild". Or something close to that.
aussieskier wrote in post #3468866 Hmm good to see some one is around here. Mornin' Perm, I get to go to another wedding event, I guess they are having a family brunch thing the day after... I don't know if Scott mentioned, but the wedding photographers, were a husband wife team that shot d200 and I had to laugh cuz I caught one of them enjoying the open tap HA. I guess you do what your told to by the family .I didn't mention that - I figured it was best to come straight from you. Makes me laugh - you should post that in the Wedding Forum Permagrin wrote in post #3468920 HEY LOOK! we just hit 55000! we've got to be the longest thread in history Post count matters not.... Woolburr wrote in post #3469078 Cartoons took a turn for the worse when the Jetsons and the Flintstones came to the end of their runs. The combined Hanna-Barbera and original Looney Tunes productions set a bar that just hasn't been touched since. Rocky and Bullwinkle was a cult classic that could probably be included. But since that time...nothing has really been very good. Thundercats has great animation, but there is something missing in the story line. The Simpsons is very good, but it really doesn't have broad audience appeal...South Park is probably the best stuff since the 60s...but it just isn't kid friendly. It isn't? wu_wei0 wrote in post #3469195 OMG- I think the world is coming to an end!! THere is a blinding light flooding down from on high!! WTH?? I will probably stay at the State Park I was at during the last RRTP-Oregon meet. It is near Redmond/Bend.

I just used the 300 w/no tc. What I noticed last night on a couple of shots of gulls, was that even on iso 100, I was overexposing the gulls on the sunny day...leaving a transparent white (not chromatic) halo around their heads in high contrast situations (with the tc's this is the area has CA). I'm thinking that where my 5D and the 30D tended to underexpose everything, that the MKIII may be tending towards overexposure...I automatically use + exposure comp because of the way I always used to shoot...yesterday I dialed it down to 0 (tried both evaluative and spot metering) and still came up with overexposed heads. When I adjusted the exposure in lightroom, for the heads, the bodies were under exposed but the halos went away. So, I'm thinking my "ca" issues must be exposure related...
