I love this Athena. It has a very surreal quality to it. Almost cartoon-like. And I mean that in a good way.

I think it's the over-use of Neat Image in a feeble attempt to cover up the weird texture the cheap scanner put into the image. ;)

Surreal was how I perceived it, as well. Super shot!!

darn- the save for web took away the hot from the pink. :(

Beautiful rose Wu! I agree (although I use it all the time) Save for Web is evil...

LOL! I love it! It almost has a 3-D appearance to it...

Thanks :D

Hey Wool, when I had the 400 on with the 2x and the 1.4x the camera said f10...why would that be?

It only recognizes the first converter from the body. If you switch positions with the 2x and the 1.4x you should see it change. Should show f/11 with the 2x and the lens wide open...f/8 with the 1.4x there.

I think Athena's cow shot is rather moooooooooooooooving.

:) Thanks Wool. It was surprising to me how friendly they were. Isn't it's bell gorgeous?

Did the whole herd have bells or just one or two of them? That is a rather fancy looking bell for a cow...

For some reason the AF missed the target on this one and caught the safety screen above the dugout. I was wandering around shooting from different spots in the park to see some different vantage points. I just liked how it turned out.

Lonnie, I missed the reason behind the jeep. Is this a loaner/rental? Or did you buy a new rig?

It's a rental. My car is in the shop getting a new rear bumper and driver's seat because of that accident I was in back in May. The insurance company authorized me for a mid-sized rental car, but Hertz didn't have one available when I was there, so they gave me a free upgrade to a Jeep Liberty 4x4, just like Puddles'.

okay Scott, here's a straight from the camera (no adjustments) shot with the MKIII, 400f5.6, 1.4 & 2x tc's on a tripod.

and TD (or anyone who knows) can you ID the bird with the orange bill (I don't have a better photo, it's from a crop of the above shot)? It wasn't a green heron and it sort of looks like a cormorant but not the one in my bird book...so, sigh. I can't add the green heron to my lifebook thingy but I could add this if I knew what it was.

Looks like a cormorant, but I can't narrow it down any further than that.

thanks Lonnie...it's definitely something I've not seen (either a juvi cormorant?) or another species...

Crazy in what way? (scott?)
