Suckers are big enough to feed you and Scott for a week.;)

Nice speckled grebe shots there Permie...that is some fine bokeh indeed...the 300 produces some sweet stuff if you give it a chance!

Oh, yeah. Serious vacation mode. Hey, clean up that beach when you're done. It's a mess.

I don't know what makes you say that!

Yes, that's a syringe.

But all that brown gunk from the previous shot was weird seaweed. Other areas were quite clean. Did I mention that you can drive and park on the beach. You need a parking permit, but you can drive everywhere. On the map it shows as this pristine National Marine area. Umm, no. Not so much.

Cool! I just remember hearing them one time when I was in Vegas. I don't think I ever saw one. The guy I shot was VERY loud. In a group they would have been deafening.

That's disgusting. I'm lovin' the Oregon beaches more than ever now.

Cicadas just make noise...and die...This guy was about 3"-3.5" long...and lived in Georgia. He was just a minor annoyance with the noise....the fire ants were a whole different story.

Kind of neat to see such a simple carrier...the island free of all the modern technology.;) Of course, there is an Intruder parked on the flight deck....not sure that baby could support Intruder ops. Also looks to be an S3 Viking on the fantail...not sure that would have ever been able to operate from the Lex either. Guess they just have Navy aircraft aboard and are not era specific.

I understand about 2/3 of what you just said.

Other Dan, we saw a CG jet tonight! I didn't get a shot of it, but my sister got it on video. It was very cool.

The aircraft parked in front of the island structure is an A-6 Intruder....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A-6_Intruder (external link) and the one at the extreme rear of the ship is an S3 Viking. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-3_Viking (external link) Both were assigned to carriers during the 70s onward.

Ah, the A-6. The Maneater. I loved to watch that thing fly. It seemed so ungainly. I liked it better than the A-7. I thought it was cooler looking.

Edit: I think I got that mixed up. I liked the A-7 better. I liked the intake under the nose.
