I used to love working here, but not so much any more. There haven't been good times here in quite a while.

Maybe its time to look for something new?

I am happy with my work (today I am working at home). At the moment I have lots and lots of overtime but thats ok because that means more money for my africa trip and camera gear

Something new would be nice, but I don't know what I want to do. I'd like to change fields, but I don't really know anything else. Unless I could find something photography related. That would be ideal.

I work in the Information Systems area for a large hospital in the Los Angeles area (actually, we run the computers for a few hospitals). My title is Senior Operations Tech, but the job also involves some network support and clinical analyst duties, too. Basically, from midnight until 9:30am, we're the only people here, so we're responsible for everything that goes on. During the day shift, there's a whole crew of Network Techs and Clinical Analysts, so there's less for the day shift Operators to handle.

sounds like you've got a busy job then.. and technical. i for one have a phobia of hospitals so i wouldn't like it much. :P sorry you're getting tired of it though... maybe somewhere else would need the same field, that way you at least get a change of scenery?

It can get busy at times, if there's a problem. Mostly it's just boring and very routine. As for moving somewhere else in the same field... Everything I do here I've learned on the job over the past 23 years. I don't have any certifications, which another company would want. So, I'd have to spend the time and money necessary to be tested and certified. That's a hassle I really don't need, and anyway, after 23 years in the field I'm sick of it. I really do need something different.

wow, after 23 years i'd be sick of it, too. heck i've been doing mine for 8 and i'm sick of it. :P

Could be worse. Could be the Lima Bean lady. If there ever was a Lima Bean delivery service, which, in hindsight, there really isn't, so, I guess that really didn't make much sense at all. BUT, had there BEEN a Lima Bean delivery lady, and everyday she drove by to give you free Lima Beans, that WOULD really suck.

Must have more coffee....

ha ha, so very true. not a huge fan of lima beans. i think it was because they were force fed down my throat as a child.. or maybe it's just because they're truely disgusting.

Lima beans are evil. They were sent here by aliens to kill off the unsuspecting human children. But we were smarter than that. We chose Twinkies instead.
