I don't remember you asking that but it was pretty funny. We sent in our registration for the shots, they sent us back the numbers...we took our photos up and they called us and said "because you guys don't live in Marion County, we can't exhibit your photos (even though there was nothing on the registration that prevented it)" but we really like them so we're going to give you the new "guest exhibitor" spot and start a new precident. So we were their first ever but now they are going to do it and I don't know what the requirements will be.

It was last night during all that "dangling berry" talk. I'm sure you had your mind elsewhere! ;)

That's a great story. Did you enter anything in the State Fair? I had 1 shot exhibited there (out of the 4 I entered).

No...I was too tired (the heat killed me this summer, I didn't want to have to deal with the entry...going to the fair...etc...). Gosh I hate this valley.

I must have missed the question... :D
Congrats on your submission to the state fair. Was it one of your winners? I didn't enter anything in our local fair either (same reason) and I thought it had to be a winner for the state fair.

Anyone can enter into the state fair (in addition to the winners from the county fairs). This year there were 1200 entered. I think they exhibited <400 or so. You can enter up to 4 color shots. They are judged by a panel of 3 judges. This year there was a professional photog from the Statesman, a professional outdoor photog and and a skilled amateur.

The good thing about the state fair is that you can mail in the entries. I sat through most of the judging (in an air-conditioned building). It was pretty unnerving having all those people looking at my work. Especially up close, in a light display! I learned a lot from the process.

This is the one that made it in:

Cool TD..how'd it do? I wish ours could have been judged. The judges told us people voted for ours even though there was sign that said not to...that was nice.

Didn't win anything. I was happy just getting exhibited on my first try.

There were folks at the judging with graphs and stats on who gets in, etc. It was crazy. Like I said, I learned a lot.

I titled this one "Puppy at Heart." Turner was 10.5 years in this photo. (Taken about 2 weeks after I got my XT)

hehe.. somehow I don't think that's it.. but, Turner may actually be a Jr. and then TD really is named Turner.. and if the name belonged to a child and not a retriever that would be a logical conclusion... ;)

Turner is, in fact, my boy's name. Sadly, though, he has the face of a dog!

Turner, the subject of my avatar and the selective color shot is my pooch, not my child.

My name? I've mentioned it before in this thread....didn't you see it?
