HANDLE? I haven't heard that in years...you're too young to know that term!  I think it was the 70's since I last heard it...has it revived?

I don't think it ever gone out of fasion. it just being used for something else now. I am sure you didn't have the net in the 70's. However using that term for a real name made me laugh :)

talking of names I am going to admit that most of the people here I don't know their real names.

hehe.. I don't think so. My brother told me about eight years ago that I was the most uncool person he has ever met.. I made the mistake of saying 'trippinG' instead of 'trippin'.. oops.. :o .. So, if i'm saying it there's a fair chance that it is still very out of fashion.. ;)

Don't worry about trying to be cool, I have never been cool in my life. I'm not going to try and don't really care. anyway at some point one stops being cool, and now that I am 32 I will leave it to those in the 20's to think they need to be.

plus I have a big camera that I impress people with :)

Good grief...I get a new nickname where ever I go! Where can I sign up for the "please just use my name club?" I don't know that I've spent more than a week in someone's company w/o them finding one for me...some of them especially I'd have preferred they DIDN'T find!

Speaking of nicknames, did you change your name on here? Wasn't it orignally something else, or has it always been Permagrin?

Yes, it was...but it wasn't that way for very long. It was Peregrin...but Dante kept calling me Permagrin and frankly, I liked it better...peregrin was for peregrinating but people kept thinking I spelled the falcon wrong and/or I was referring to the Tolkien book...made me crazy...how did you know?

I remember seeing it as Peregrin, then suddenly it was Permagrin. I thought I had just been misreading it the whole time. I've been meaning to ask you. I think it caught my eye because I saw a couple of your pics and recognized them being in Oregon.

Yes, I think Muddy was the only one to pick up on it. I think the thread was moving fast at that moment, but he caught it.

I know, you would think the forum would have a place where can go to a thread post.

I had thought about changing my name here to something like the flying kiwiman, like the flying Dutchman.

I'll think I will stick with what I got.

That would be good! The only trouble I have with your name is that it doesn't have a way of sticking in my head. It's not a word or a name that's particularly pronouncable. So I just think of "that guy from New Zealand." (Not Tim, of course!)

even when you are shooting sports?
How many do you normally take during one game?

Always RAW. Even for cat pictures. And I shoot around 150-200 per game on the average with 2 to 3 games per week during bball season.

Lightstream wrote in post #2436755 (external link)
Also - just wanted to ask you guys - RAW or JPEG for fireworks?
I was thinking RAW gives me more flexibility to recover blown highlights as often occurs during fireworks shooting.

It does give you greater latitude with exposure. I'm going to have to dig some of mine out and post them.
I love to shoot fireworks.

Woolburr wrote in post #2436753 (external link)
The only real fireworks here are big shows put on by professionals....not a real danger.

Really? Anyone can get the big mortars here. I buy a bunch every year, and they're about the same as the ones you see in the big displays.

Hello. Anyone want to give me an update on the thread? :)
Oh, minus the lens discussions. ;)

Why no lens discussions? It's a photography forum. ???
