Always RAW. Even for cat pictures. And I shoot around 150-200 per game on the average with 2 to 3 games per week during bball season.

Why no lens discussions? It's a photography forum. ???

I always shoot raw too...I just prefer it, though sometimes I'd appreciate the ease of JPEG...much less PP

and re: Claire's "no lens" comment...I think it's because this is somewhat of a social hour thread   we just come in here to enjoy each other's company. And post photos galore...and make nonsensical statements and mostly make ourselves "objects de ridicule" to those who don't enjoy this sort of thing ;)

Turnerdadze, your favourite lens (100-400) let me down big time today. I stumbled upon a woodie in a dark woodlot in the marsh I regularly go to. By the time I dialed up ISO 3200 he was gone. This is the only shot I managed to get (1/100 sec, ISO 1250.):(

Nice shot of the Pileated!

Too bad the old reflexes aren't what they used to be -- a younger PekToral would have nailed the woodie!

Yeah, he also did not have a 1D camera whereby three hands and 12 fingers are needed to change ISO settings.

At any rate Turnie, this is kinda of a dark day when the 100-400 does not do so well.

Agreed.

See here for more visual evidence.

The 100-400 sure likes the light. Not as bad as the Bigma, but quality certainly increases with available light.

OK, read all the pages. Now I'm up to speed on the Tup' thread.

Question to Fireworks shooters... Can you give me an example of a standard exif of shooting fireworks? ISO, speed, WB, exp. comp., exp?

My standard procedure - ISO 100 (50 blows highlights even if you have it), manual mode, f/8, 4 seconds, WB auto, EC not applicable. Take your widest lens, dial it to infinity on the distance scale and set MF. Everything manual basically. Take a remote release or hold the trigger down and empty the CF. Some 'time the bursts', others like me let the camera blast away and enjoy the fireworks! I'm there to watch too!

liza wrote in post #2438758 (external link)
It does give you greater latitude with exposure. I'm going to have to dig some of mine out and post them.
I love to shoot fireworks.

Might try RAW this year since CF is plentiful..

:oops:Uh, I was strictly looking at the self-portrait thread. Yeah, the self-portrait thread in an attempt to support fellow Tupperware poster, Liza.

...at least I didn't take a camera into the bathtub! :p
