And Lightstream, thanks for the firework data. Of course, it's buried back about 46 pages ago....
You're welcome
Liza has good data as well. My chart is slightly different - I lock ISO 100 but
f/8 - 4 seconds
f/11 - 8 seconds
f/16 - 16 seconds
f/22 - 30 seconds (32 really but the most convenient is 30)
I use aperture to increase the duration, rather than follow ISO. Different objectives.
Seldom do I ever go that far.. here, they fire so much, so fast, that 4 seconds is more than enough. If your fireworks are very sparse, adjust to taste.
DO chimp. If you are seeing way too much blowouts adjust as well. For me, I just use one setting and leave it on.. I accept that out of the whole lot of frames, some will be blown, some will not capture anything interesting, however on average, it's 50 good frames out of 150. One almost feels sinful expending so much memory especially when one has FILM shooters next to them on fireworks night

Don't feel bad. My boys are spending Christmas day with their father, so I'll be alone, too.

Thanks.. good to know I'm not the only one..
Yeah.. last year I was reading an article about how the holiday season can be stressful on those who don't have company to spend it with since everybody around looks so happy and they are the exceptions.
At least I am home.. I just remembered Sari is going to be at work, which is worse (I want combat pay: 3X market rate if I'm going to be on duty on Christmas night.. not that we expect any flying ammo in the datacenter.. it's just a way of saying "triple it" :mrgreen
Sure wish I was on someone's 'priority list' - as in, someone would prefer to spend Christmas with me rather than anybody else. I'll keep dreaming though, and while I'm dreaming I'll have another drink. A strong one. Where's the 30ml automatic-pour spout? Should'a brought one back.
