I don't know why she is so hung up about it. It is barely visible --you have to look really close to see it. I think it adds character.

Suddenly she is tying to act all shy...I don't understand...once you have bared you soul to a national magazine like that...it is pretty hard to cover yourself again. Sort of like trying to regain your virginity or something.

My remark was really intended as a joke. Unfortunatley, sometimes, I'm the only one who understands my sense of humor.

I was thinking of the old management vs. labor debate: Every year give them more and more for doing less and less. Pretty soon, we'll be giving them everything for doing nothing.

I'll try to be less subtle in the future.

I know this comes from another thread but I thought I would chat about it here...

Where I come from we have the Mantra - the exact opposite.

We the willing,
Led by the incompetent
To do the impossible
For the ungrateful

For So Long
We have done So Much
With So Little
That now we are Qualified
To Do Everything
With Nothing.

That's me at work... I have somehow acquired a reputation for being able to do the impossible with very little over the past 5+ years.

Easy now...as I recall...this was a photo essay on twins...seems like you were in the picture and had a staple of your own!

Man that spendathon is going to punch through the $350K barrier Real Soon Now.

Not sure whether I should feel guilty or proud I contributed to $2K worth of that in December alone!!

Maybe that's why I'm spending part of my vacation clocking overtime pay to do performance tuning on my corporate database (just bought us a 100X performance increase this afternoon). Boss is very justifiably impressed.

Yoda- the only thing she was kidding about was they still used staples in her day. ;)

She just didn't want to share the staple scar!

It's nice to know my staple scars are worth a good morning's topic of discussion ;)

It's those carefree days of youth....the ones that catch up to you and make you blush when you're middle age and the ones you're most proud of when you are 60!

Wool.....go for it!!! Hey, how is your 300/2.8 ISL?

Believe it or not.. that lens has crept onto my radar again. I am almost-sorta-tempted to add the legendary 300/2.8 ISL to my arsenal..... as well as teleconverters (already on the workplan for 2007) and plane tickets to Yellowstone to shoot wolves.

I have also had a few drinks and it is probably the alcohol talking, but hey, like someone I used to know almost a decade ago used to say.. "If the only thing I can do is dream...at least I AM GONNA DREAM BIG."

It does not help that one of the most prestigious photo retailers in town has a MINT 200/1.8 in the window. This would EASILY pass for a NIB (New In Box) lens. DAAAAYYYAAAAAM!!! I did a TRIPLE-take when I passed by the window, but the stamped nameplate confirms this is indeed the Eye of Sauron (now available in Canon EF/EOS mount).

Mornin' PG!

PG: I did a little bit of checking - the 400 DO is very much more reasonably priced on my end of the world, in fact it is just a tiny bit more expensive than a local 300/2.8 ISL. Wierd, ain't it....

Man, I hope Canon does not come out with a 200/1.8 IS USM L in the next year or so....I WILL go broke buying that.

Imagine the possibilities, for one lens:

200/1.8 IS L
280/2.5 IS L with 1.4X TC
400/3.5 IS L with 2X TC
560/5.0 IS L with both TC's stacked

Well, I saw some of Peter's shots with the 300 F4 IS that were really very good yesterday. I'd have to go find the thread because I unsubscribed to it, but they were definitely influencing me over the 400...that IS is such a temptation...I know there is still skill invoved in getting those bird shots but I know that some factors would make it easier.
