Ya lo all,

Im having a few problems saving for web, getting the out of scratch memory error message. I have allocated the scratch memory to my internal HD which has 200GB (ERROR MESSAGE) I'm also using my external HD which is 1 terror bite and im still getting the error message. I have got 2GB of memory as well.

Is there anything else i need to try cos this shouldnt be happening

Thanks

When allocating SCRATCH memory in the photoshop preferences tab, select all internal drives available. It picks the most available location - You may run into problems if you select an external drive - or certainly be slowed down. Been there, done that, followed Adobe's advice (as presented here) and things are working great - also allocated RAM should be about 75% - good luck

How big is the image you're trying to save?

Try this: Flatten, convert to 8bpc, reduce size, then SFW.

I've allocated the scratch disc to my external hard drive and experienced no problems at all. Even when I've forgotten to turn it on, which I often do, Photoshop just finds somewhere else.

My previous PC used to constantly give me those errors, and its one reason I never store images on the PC's hard drive, only on the external HD which is bigger anyway.

Have you tried clearing/purging the cache in Preferences?

Glad to hear it worked out for you - easy to overlook that feature..... after all these are complex programs and we often get caught up in the trees instead of the forest. You don't always know what you don't know. :D - Stu

Sorry, but can someone tell me the steps to do this? Sounds like something that should be done even if you aren't having trouble.

Photoshops cache is emptied every time you close PS. No need to unless you run into a problem like this. (Which should be unlikely, unless you have little memory & little free disk space.)

That's a different cache: The one for Bridge.
Also worth noticing that the one in the bridge prefs appears to be broken (doesn't rebuilt thumbnails):

The PS cache is here:

I was trying to do it through photoshop but it wouldn't work. It worked straight away when i cleared the cache in Bridge. Clearing it in Bridge did the trick for me. Im not saying this is the correct way to do it, but it got running better.
