We've been in Wyoming for the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo which is billed as the Largest Outdoor Rodeo in the World. This place is everything Western and where REAL Cowboys show us normal men what it was like to live in the West at an earlier time.

I've been working on my images for like 10 hours now. That's the only bad part of spending 3 full days of shooting an event. I have over 29gigs of images to sort through and when you love the sport so much, it's hard to pick only a few out of the literally thousands of images we have from this event.

Here are a few from the Bronco Riding that stood out from my first few days of shooting. I'm sure I'll have more, as we are headed back out today for more Rodeo action

My back hurts every time I look at these pictures. I think I was munching on pain killers last night just from editing these.

So do you understand now why it is so hard to pick only a few images to post? And this is just from the Bronco Riders and only the first day! I've got hundreds more from the 2nd and 3rd day and like I said, we're headed back out again today Jeesh, my shutter finger is starting to hurt just thinking about it:razz:

Reminds me of my favorite song from when I was a little kid:

"I've been walking these streets so long........singin' the same ol' song......."

Thank you. bw!

Hey Pete, thanks for the compliments and yes, we were right beside the chutes in the Press Area. RIght in the Mix of Things with the smells, sweat and swearing going on all around us. It's quite exhilerating!!

Beautiful captures - love how you've frozen the action.

Thanks, it was pretty easy with the bright sun, we could use a really fast shutter speed. I think I was up around 1/8000th of a second

Thanks Ed!

Go find one, you'll have a blast. The people are great, the action is non-stop and the photos you'll come home with will have you addicted in one day of shooting

no 3 & 4 are great

Thanks, I like those alot too!!

If you live within a days drive of Cheyenne, put the Frontier Days on your calendar for next year. It's probably the funnest time we've had covering an event in years.

May I ask what you are going to do with the images? Are you a hired photog or what? I did find a rodeo coming with the state fair in a month. Already made some calls!

My wife and I host a Travel Website that is photography based and when ever we cover events like this, we hand out business cards for the participants to see shots of themselves on galleiries we post.

I usually write up a few different versions of the event and submist them with photos to various magazines. Every now and then we get them published, most of the time we just submit them to stock sites.

For the Rodeos, my wife keeps a stash of 'Hot Cowboys', as she calls them to get herself all worked up over...LOL She loves the rough look of the guys, so she's the one who's always asking if we can go shoot more rodeos.

My wife Cindy caught this shot over the past week in Cheyenne

For me, it's probably the one sport that is so thrilling to shoot. Almost everything else I've shot, is very predictable. Rodeo is totally unpredictable and you never know what is going to happen. Its awesome fun and there is subjects for every type of photographer.

Jeesh, I sound like a salesman for the PRCA...LOL

Good luck with your rodeo and have fun. I Finally got a Gallery posted (external link) after the long week of riding. Its got a lot of images to look through, but it should keep your jaw dropped the entire time!!
