Did you sign anything to get your press credentials?

Not for the Rodeo, but we had to for the PBR night time events. They make you sign your life away in order to shoot their events.

No biggie, I just wont or cant post any of those shots which in return doesnt help promote them...the PBR that is. A bunch of the photographer wouldnt even go shoot the night time events because of the goofy stuff they make you sign

I only ask because I am a PRCA photographer, and every week I see people obtaining press credentials under false pretences such as a story, only to start handing out cards to sell pictures. This is not alowed bythe PRCA.

Canon markIIn - Nikon D3 and a bunch of other crap I probably dont need but think I do.

I never spoke to or saw anyone from the PRCA, except for one photographer who worked for them and was doing the same thing you talked about.

We were shooting under the pretence that we were covering the event for our website and they knew we sell our photos to try and make a living just like you. So I wasnt trying to step on anyone's toes, but like I said, I never spoke with anyone from the PRCA except fellow photographers

If you have the media guide which you should if you are going to PRCA shows , it tells you on page 4 how credencials are given. It also tells you that photos can not be used for any noneditorial or commercial perposes without prior consent of the PRCA and the contestant. Andthat they can not be sold over the Internet.

Like I said, I never spoke with anyone from the PRCA except some photographers. The Media Guide they gave me has last years standings on Page 4???? So I must have a different Media Guide than the one you're talking about.

I also never handed my card out to any of the riders. I was too busy taking photos to be PR'ing with the contestants. But in reality, its not like we were there to make money. We were there to promote the Cheyenne Rodeo! Our site is travel oriented, so that's what we were there to do, promote travel to these type of events.

I dont know how any of the riders would find my site unless they're also Canon photographers who frequent this site.

So Dale I'm wondering being a PRCA photographer I assume you have their permissionso do you need to go to each contestant and get theis or is that given when they sign-up?

To take Pictures is a gift to post them on POTN is an Honor.

I'm not sure what you are asking, but maybe this will answer it. As a member of the PRCA, I am allowed to shoot their rodeos with the committees approvel. I am also allowed to sell those images to the contestants both on and off line. When I became a member it was understood that what I shoot at a PRCA show belongs to the PRCA, so any further use of those images must ba approved by them.
