What leads you to think it's hot? Just curious.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

No case bothers me as they come with one! Things like that raises red flags for me but for that kind of money, I'm very cautious.

Not everyone follows the official FredMiranda / POTN price policy. I've seen loads of legitimate deals for lots less if you're willing to wait and look. For a variety of reasons many folks prefer to do only face to face cash deals, and are thus willing to accept a smaller base of potential buyers and the resulting reduced sales price.

"purchased for a trip that did not pan out"

He is either a bigtime planner of trips or its hot because he then says this

"it has been mounted to this EOS 3 for the past year, taken off just now to check for the UU number"

Doesnt add up for me. Also no caps, no pouch, etc....
Also anyone in their right mind with photography equipment knows how the market has been the last year or so. That thing is $1450-1500 minimum.
I understand people get desperate, but honestly...nothing adds up on this lens.

there have been 2 70-200's posted on craigslist that were amazing buys ....

one was a 70-200 f/4 IS and it was posted for $750, when i called her she said it had all boxes, papers, pouch and that she was selling for a friend that's basically going through financial hardship

the other one didn't leave a phone number so i just emailed and was told it was sold
