I need a lens for an anniversary party. Stone building, dark natural lighting, no ceiling for bounce -ugh- so I'll be using a large on camera soft box.
I'm looking at a Sigma 28-70 f/2.8 or a Tammy 28-75 f/2.8 as they are both $350 - $380 which is my budget. I've read good (for the price) and bad reviews of both, and questions about bad copies.

There's also a used E+ Siggy 24-70 f/2.8 at about the same price and a used 28-70 at about $210 but is it likely that they are bad copies that were returned?

Thoughts appreciated.

Honestly, I'd probably use the 18-55 IS you already have unless you need the 2.8 to isolate your subjects for portraits and such. To me, 28mm isn't wide enough on a crop sensor if you're going to be in a tight space... especially if you're going to be doing group shots.
