Anyone using electric dust blowers to blow dust off negatives and slides before scanning? I am becoming annoyed with dust on my films, which never can be perfectly cleaned with traditional tools. A quick search shows that "Metro Vacuum ED500 DataVac" seems to be very well received, though at 500 Watts it is a bit of an overkill for film dusting:

The nice feature that it has a built-in air filter, so I guess it should be safe to use for sensitive dusting - lenses, camera sensor, etc.

P.S. It just occurred to me that I already have a similar device (albeit without air filter) - electric air pump, to inflate bike tires etc. The flow seems to be pretty powerful (I used it to blow dust from inside deep holes drilled in concrete). It probably should be adequate for film dusting (but I wouldn't use it for lenses).

Hey man I actually have a full 500C kit I was selling with an 80mm and two A12 backs. It's all older style gear but it works quite well. Let me know if that might interest you.

Yours is much newer and fancier, and dare I say, even smaller than my non-flash 35EE. One of the most enjoyable rangefinders I've ever used. You will love the thing.

Enjoyed looking through this thread! Headed to the Philippines on vacation again, but leaving the Canon stuff behind. I'm going to pick up a new Zeiss Ikon to go along with the X-Pro for small travel kit, so hope to add some stuff to this thread myself :)

Got the 35EF in. Looks great, film is being 1 houred as we speak. The only issue is the little glass pane that covers the viewfinder is loose. When I hold it to take a portrait, it will actually fall from the right side viewfinder window, to the left side! Will a dab of super glue harm this? I assume it is more for protection.

The glass piece on the front that covers the VF and the meter?

If you can get a dab of glue in there without blocking the meter, you should be fine.
