$120 for ONE roll of black and white film??? I am certainly hoping that's not the case, it should be easier to order it online and have it shipped in I would assume.

As to developing at home there are a lot of great tutorials online, I thought this one was pretty spot on at making it easy - http://chromogenic.net/develop (external link) but there are many resources, just do a quick google search.

The great thing is that you almost can't mess it up really, so experiment! Try different methods, times, temperatures, you'll get a different look. Then when you find "your" look be sure to write down your process so it's repeatable.

JCP has several articles on home developing.

Thanks a lot, folks! I'll read some when I get back from work. Seems like it's not that monster I thought it would be. Looking forward to trying it out.

And yes, it's 120$ for a single roll.

I just priced it out: it's $329.11 WITH SHIPPING to Brazil for 50 rolls of Kodak Tri-X from B&H. That's $6.58 per roll.

Just saying.

I'd say that's the price without taxes, no? Last time I tried importing something from B&H it ended up costing twice the price just on importing duties. I'm sure they'd find a way to charge me something...

As I said, it's hard being a photographer around here.

Ok, so if it costs 2x the price, that's still 1/10 the price of what you're paying now...

How have you been liking the Mamiya, j-dogg? Do you carry it around or shoot with a tripod?

Mamiya RZ67 ProII and Portra 160, hmm, forgot what lens...
I see this is gonna be difficult, I will have to take notes!
I also see that I missed the focus, sigh...
Available window light.
Lots of noise too.
Shrug, it's a start, it's all new to me.

QUOTED IMAGE

You didn't just miss focus; I would say that nothing is particularly "in" focus here. Any issues with the lens? Fog? Haze? Fungus?

I do have the Mamiya 180/4 SF lens, new in box with the discs.
Though, I don't remember using it...
Film is hard for remembering equipment used, date/time, conditions, etc..

2008 - 35mm Walmart developed, probably Fuji 400.
Canon EOS 3, forget the lens, probably nifty 50II
Just got a Kodak-Pakon F135 scanner, rescanned.
This thing is great!
Liberal PP, big crop, slight missed focus, blah, blah, blah...

Both, depends on the situation

I have a huge strap to carry it if need be. All of its film and both lenses and backs fit in a small gun case I retrofitted with some foam to hold an RB system.
