BUAHAHAHAHAHA, I HAVE DONE IT! After all of this anxiety over getting a reversing setup to work properly, I have acquired a scanner!

Now the only question is: what software should I get to run it? I've heard good things about VueScan (sp?), not such good things about SilverEfexPro (again, sp?), and not much about anything else.

I scanned a quick 120 shot using the de-facto program via Photoshop, but it seems very basic. Can't recall the name, though.

I like VueScan.

"The VueScan Bible" is a good book on using it.

I've found Vuescan tricky to get set up (Silverfast was much easier for me) but once you get a certain film profiled, things move quickly and easily

Silverfast is tied to your scanner. VueScan isn't.

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

oops, yes! I just realized that I only got halfway through my last post.

Vuescan is much cheaper and isn't scanner specific.

I'm guessing this means that Silverfast may not work with my scanner, then?

If it does, it will work ONLY with your scanner. If you get another scanner that's a different model, then you have to pony-up for another copy of SilverFast. VueScan works with both my Epson V500 and Nikon IV-ED.

Well then I guess I'm going with VueScan ?!.

I'm probably going to give the free version a go before I pony up the full $80 or so...

I use Epson Scan only, i do use VueScan or SilverFast for something that Epson Scan can't do such as RAW file scan and multiscan and HDR scan, but almost all the shots i've posted on this thread before were from Epson Scan, i have VueScan Lifetime membership so it is there when i need it anytime.

I like in Epson Scan that it crop the frames of selected format size Automatically, the other softwares i have to do it Manually which i really don't like to do always, even i heard that the Auto-crop will not crop accurate as the format size, i don't care, if 1-2mm or is out of the crop it will not make a big deal for me, many times i crop more than the auto crop as well.

I sometimes have good luck w/ auto crop but it really hates my Holga photos or really any shot with dark sides or corners.

Love the grain in #2. Interesting, I hardly got any grain out of my Superia 400?
