I've been doing that as well, works well enough. The zone system really helped me in getting exactly what I wanted on the negative.

From earlier today. Only about a 3 stop dynamic range (minus the sky), so I reduced exposure and increased development from 8 minutes to 10:30 in order to increase the contrast and sense of texture.

Are you tray developing? I don't have an easy way of making a darkroom so I am using a Combi tank. I need to get my hands on some empty 4x5 boxes so I can separate the shots +1, -1 etc....

Was that with a Holga?

I quite like the third shot.

^thanks!

They're actually taken with a 1950s Super Ricohflex TLR. Still getting the hang of shooting without a light meter haha.

As much as I'd love to have my own darkroom set-up, I've been using one of the square plastic tanks. I had no luck with it originally, but at the advice of someone online, I've been gently rocking it back and forth on its feet and this gives me consistent, even development with the exception of the bordering 5%.

^ Looks great Dave. Congrats on the scanner!

Here's a few from a recent engagement session. Mamiya 645AFD. Color is the new Portra 400 and the three b&w shots at the end are HP5 pushed to 3200. All are straight scans from Richard Photo Lab.

There's a few more on the blog too if interested.

The easiest way to get a collection of boxes is to ask around (I have 5x7, 4x10, and 8x10 boxes no 4x5 boxes) or buy 4 25 sheet packs of your favorite 4x5 film and dedicate the boxes.

Awesome shots y'all.

My dads making me majorly facepalm. He said my Mamiya would be harder to get the dust out of than my Canon 450D. Which is his reasoning for me not taking my film camera to the World Series Of Drag Racing today.

/facepalm

He's probably right. The 450D is still serviced by the manufacturer, I'm not sure the Mamiya is.

Either way, you don't want to be changing film in a dusty environment anyways...

I would just walk out of the pit area. That's the only place that really gets dusty.

Hello everyone,
I was actually referred to this forum by someone else because they said this group was still dedicated to film cameras.

Anyhow my younger brother is taking photography in highschool so i was looking around for an SLR.

Does anyone have any opinions on a Pentax P30T? theres a lady on CL offering it for only 20 bucks.

If anyone has used one before got any tips on what i should inspect when meeting up with this lady later?

Thanks in advance.
