I wouldn't let that stop me, that's what adapters are for. ;)

But you'd need to exchange the focusing screen as well, so I'd say it's better to get a matching body with split circle.

i mean how do i get a larger f stop (as in going from 16 to 1.4).

i've tried forcing it and it just won't come off. i think i know why since there is this pin that attaches to the silver thing on the very left as shown in this picture.

QUOTED IMAGE

i have no clue how to move it though. i've never owned a nikon film camera so i'm pretty lost.

"The silver thing on the left" is simply used to tell the camera body what aperture the lens is set to for metering purposes. If that pin is prevent the aperture ring from moving then there is something wrong inside the camera body.

while i haven't use that model camera, Nikon/Nikkors all work basically the same.
a) there has to be a lens release on the front left of the camera to push to release the lens
b) the pin on back of the lens enables the black pin to work on the exposure by adjusting the aperture when you turn the ring.

there's also a little button on the diaphram next to the pin. You can press the button down, then manually flip up the pin. its really tiny, so look carefully.

once you get the lens off, turn it around and there's a little level sticking out.
push it down and you should see the aperture reduce to its smallest size. Release it and it should return to its widest aperture. If it wont go past f/11, the its probably jammed. (putting it on the camera wont make it go to 1.4.)

hope that helps... by the by... is this the model you're using or the second?

I'm an Nikon FE user for about 20 years... i've used several types of lenses, but still have my Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 AiS manul focus.

I'm seriously thinking about investing in having some hardcover portfolio books made. My only problem is that I'm not quite sure how to go about it. I know I'm getting it printed from Adoramapix.

My main questions for you guys are:
How many pages would you suggest? [38 page 9" x 12" is $91.95]

Because I shoot different formats(Film, digital macro/portraits/landscape/events), how would you suggest organizing it[Having a separate book for each, putting them all into one book]?

I've had mixed results with Adorama. The first book came out great but the second had a misaligned page when it was glued and pulled out a bit when the book was opened. Apple does a great job, though they're a bit more expensive.

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

if it is balanced across all genres (meaning you don't have 2 macro shots and 37 landscape shots) I'd put everything in one book split it out like chapters for each grouping of photos.

And if you are looking for some other printing options you could look into blurb. I've never used them personally but I have heard really good things about their new pro lone.

My last apple books were terrible. The exposures were still pretty dark even after i compensated for printing and all my black and white shots had a pinkish color cast.
When I complained they just refunded my money instead of trying to fix the problems.
I tried Blurb next and was happy with the results.

I've personally had some bad things about Blurb, at least compared to Adoramapix. I guess they're pretty nice books, but Adoramapix has the upper hand with the genuine photo paper and quite thick pages.

I did Cambodia and Vietnam last year, we have many things in common mr Nathan!

Does anyone have an FD 50 1.2L they would be looking to get rid of? If not, how much would one set me back?

Did we re-print it for you? If not, please email me with a couple of pictures & let's see if we can get that done for you: Helen@adorama.com (external link)

My only problem is that they're expensive. Which, is very understandable considering the quality though.

Only being in high school and not having a job certainly does make things difficult.
