Never managed to get any decent photos of the Vulcan at previous air shows, but am fairly pleased with these, though I welcome any comments and criticisms. Weather was good with some blue sky between the clouds, though it did get grey, and about 10 minutes after the Red Arrows finished the show there was a heavy downpour with thunder and lightning! All photos taken with a 350D and 100-400 L, almost all of them with the lens at 400mm, cropped, and tweaked in Photoshop.

Thanks for sharing, nice pics...... not sorted through mine yet.. was up at Pakefield yesterday rather than in the main crowd, we'd just gotten back in the car when that downpour came!!

Weathers not looking good for today with heavy showers predicted from 1pm onwards, hope they have it wrong though

Shelton.

Good stuff. I'm not really an aviation buff but always had a soft spot for the Vulcan.

Nice pictures. Pity you couldn't get the sound in as well :-)

Very nice shots! It's always good to see a Vulcan in the air.

Thanks for the comments.

Shultz - weather was good Thursday, but I decided against returning Friday (today) as looked like too much rain and storms. Look forward to seeing your photos. Good decision avoiding main crowd, I had to queue almost 2 hours for the bus back to the park and ride carpark!!

Paulyoung66 - they have all been cropped in Photoshop, I did crop them very tight to try and show as much of the Vulcan within the constraints of a 1024 pixel wide image. My usual process is to adjust WB, crop, resize, add some blue to sky, adjust levels, reduce noise, and sharpen. I'm not sure whether I can enhance the exhaust trails in the last photo, as they are also very faint on the original RAW file, but will give it another go.
Edit: Tried to enhance exhaust trails, but my PS skills are limited: http://i10.photobucket.com …t%202009/Vulcan-5295b.jpg (external link)

Here's a quick edit using Blend Modes. You should be able to do much better with the original file.
