Here are a couple of water lily shots that I took at Mercer Arboretum in Houston. The first one was photoshopped to bring out the color and darkened the background. The second one was lightly touched. These are of two different lilies. Let me know what you think.

First one doesn't do the flower justice for me.

Second, I feel the crop is too tight?

Can you elaborate on the first? What do you mean by "doesn't do the flower justice"?
Thanks for your input.

The saturation is just too much for me.lilies aren't that vibrant at the best of times.it really overpowers the flower itself..can you post the unedited one?

The blue lily resembles Perry's Blue Heaven, and although it is a rich blue, it isn't neon blue, and the center is a soft yellow and purple.

Second looks like Panama Pacific.

i agree that the first is just a little too vibrant for me - especially with the black background.

for composition on both, look into the golden ratios and see if you can crop to meet them, might improve the flow a little more

When you say "golden ratios", you meant in Photoshop, correct? Sorry for the newbie question.
