Finally, I managed to play around a bit with my manual focus Jupiter 9 85/2.0 lens (M42).

Got some nicely focused shots of my 2-year old son, Felix, playing with his cars close to the window (natural light).

I quite like the result ... although the crop is not optimal in my opinion.

All comments are welcome :D

Shutter speed: 1/800 sec
Aperture: 2.8
Exposure compensation: +2/3
Flash: Off
ISO: 400
Focal length: 85,0mm
Crop, resized, USM applied

Best regards,
Andy

Andy, That Jupiter seems to be a nice sharp lens. :D
I was following your other thread with great interest, where you mentioned using these great old lenses on an EOS DSLR via T-Mount(?) adapters.
Nice to actually see an example of what they can do. ;)

It is an M42 to EOS mount. Similar to T-mount, but a different threading.
The difficult thing is to get manual focus right ... and I was lucky in this one (not very high keeper/photo ratio)

Still, this is better than most images I have gotten with my 50/1.8 so far, mainly because the Bokeh is nicer.

Best regards,
Andy

I'm thinking this is the same adapter I'm using with my Zenitar "FISHY" lens then, as it has the M42 mount as well. :D

This reminds me, I MUST get that Zenitar out and experiment with it. I'm sure I'll have a high percentage of non keepers in the first go around with it.

Good luck with it :D

And thank you both for your kind comments!

Best regards,
Andy

PS: I am doing something wrong.
Once I post a photo, it still turns into a lens discussion thread

KevC, Marie, Ayotnoms,

Thanks :D
Yes, my wife is the one responsible for the good looks.

Here's an image of her with our second son, Christoph!

IMAGE: http://gallery.photo.net/photo/3052478-md.jpg

:o I had to promise her that I would also let our second son have a bit of the attention.
She claims that I always favour Felix ... so there he is!

EDIT ... OK, for the gear freaks ... this was taken with my boring ole' Tamron 28-75/2.8.
And it was before I realized that if I use my MZ40 flash as manual flash on the 20D, I can actually turn down the output

Best regards,
Andy

Doc ...

I think the lenses are ok as long as the makers are drunk ... things get troublesome when they sober up now and then

Best regards,
Andy
