BAT IN FLIGHT

i have been trying to take a picture of a bat for the last few weeks, i have found out it is one of the most difficult animals to take,
i have only 5-10 minutes before it is to dark and the speed of these guys is alsome, any suggestions of how to do this,

find out where they roost then setup a flash and some kind of optical trigger/gate to automatically throw the shutter/flash when the bat passes through the trigger on it's way out of the roost.
