Ok, so this is a very irritating issue that has suddenly appeared from nowhere. Such is the level of constant irritation it is worth a beer to get a solution. I will Paypal the first person who sorts this £2.25, which is the price of a decent pint of London Pride bitter in these parts. If you don't drink beer then spend it on toe-nail clippers or something!

Anyway, problem as follows. I run Windows XP x64 on my main computer. Runs beautifully day in day out, smooth as silk. Recently, I finally found a wireless dongle able to run on x64 so installed it. All is good so no more wires running through my place. May be coincidence or not but around that time, I didn't really flag exactly when, if I click on a link in Outlook, such as via a POTN 'someone's responded to a thread' message, then I started getting this message:

IMAGE: http://www.davidconroy.com/outprob.gif

I am the system admin and logged in as such. I now have to copy and paste the link into the browser to access the related page/thread. What a Royal PITA every time I open any kind of email!

So I haven't changed anything in Outlook at all, no problems clicking links via browsers. The wireless thing could be a red herring or installation may have changed something. Been through all the settings I can think of.

It's baffling

Try this solution:

slipstick.com (external link) looks like it will solve the problem.

Edit:

Note that with the following step:

Choose Save target as and change the file extension from txt to reg and double click on it to run it.

You have to save it as a .REG file and not a .txt file.

Dude, you rock ... i just made IE default, no need to go any further with reg solutions, restarted Outlook and all is good. Reverted back to Firefox as default. Seems fine. PM your Paypal and enjoy a glass of weak Dutch lager on me :-)
