Ventured out to High Point today with a couple of photog buddies.......to all pop our cherry with shooting drag boats. Definitely needed more than the 200mm I came with......but still got a few decent shots.

Lots of down time with this kind of event......so bring some sort of entertainment if you plan on attending one. The nitro class runs pretty much identical motor setups as the NHRA with the Top Fuel dragsters and funny cars.....with around 8000hp. Those boats were running 250+MPH.......covering the 1/4 mile in about 4.5 seconds.

Awesome rooster tail in #1. My favorite is #7, we don't get to see too many non racing shots and I always like the engine close-ups.

The racing shots in this sport can get pretty repetitive. I look for cool stuff in the pits to shoot.

Great shots! I'll have some in a few weeks from Marble Falls, Texas. The pit shots are definately cool, different, like you said the boats can get kind of repetitive making their passes. #1 is a great shot, like the rooster tail.

Love them. That twisted up piston shot is killer. Ah, the price to fly!
