Went out for the second time shooting baseball and my first time in the field with a long telephoto. Gear was a Nikon D2Hs (people still use those? and a 300mm) They were mostly shot at 1/1600, f/2.8, 640-1600 ISO. Please let me know what you think.

Nice work in terms of focus and seeing some action. Exposure is pretty good as well although #1 is a bit under. #4 is the best of the bunch imo. I don't particularly care for the crops used in #1-2 although if #1 had a ball then I could see where you were going with the crop and would like it much more. #2 just needs to be cropped in portrait orientation to work, then its solid. The fifth I'd drop altogether as it doesn't do much. The action is bleh, there's no face grimmacing from the pain of the foul tip and frankly, he fouled it off so it doesn't put the athlete in a good light.

Hope this doesn't all sound to critical but my intention is to help so your third time out is even better yet. Peace.

Not too critical at all Scott. In fact, exactly the kind of criticism I want. Here's #2 in portrait orientation.

Somewhere between the pitcher's hand and the bat. For a sportrait type shot such as this, a ball isn't critical. If it were action, I'd obviously feel differently but there are times when you don't need a ball to make a good image.

I've yet to find it.... Blurred beyond all recognition I guess (kinda like me in high school).
