I finally managed to get my new 50D out and about to get some shots.. The damn thing is front focusing with my Sigma EX 50-150mm F/2.8.. With my 20D and 350D it focuses spot on

Did a little AF Micro adjustment to +15 backward and things seem OK..I'll do some more tests tomorrow..

Did you test at several focal lengths? My Sigma 150-500 front focuses slightly at 150 but is spot on from 400 to 500.

No,, not as yet it was getting dark.. I tested wide open at 150mm at around 5 metres..

I'll shoot some more tests in the morning at different focal lenghts..

This lens is reputed to often have front focusing especially at shorter target distances. Is it the later or earlier version? Be curious to know if this is easily fixed with the micro-adjust as otherwise this is an appealing lens for crop cameras. How do you like it otherwise?

I read in a few places that this is actually a design flaw from Sigma. I bought the Tokina instead, they tried to go to 150mm as well but was not able to achieve good IQ throughout the range so they scaled it back to 135mm.

I think you misread. My lens starts at 150 and goes to 500 mm.

It's the Version I.. Funnily it focuses spot on with my 20D and 350D..

Check out these pics taken with my 20D..

I'd have to say it's one of the nicest lenses I've owned in over 30 years in photography..
