I am looking for a portable HD to take on the road with my laptop. Anyone been using one they like, or any that I should avoid? 500 GB - 1T in size. Thanks

Jul 29, 2009 18:11 | #5 LaCie rugged drives have been very dependable for me... I've dropped them, muddied them and generally didn't treat them very well and all three work like champs. Better, they run off USB or firewire with no power cords to deal with.

Ever since their chinese virus fiasco, I haven't trusted Maxtor, Seagate also entered into my black book with their self bricking drives (and the fact that a 320gb drive I had just decided to die on my from one second to the next, not even any funny noises, and it's not a power issue) I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.
