Help I accidently formated my 5d mk ii cf card with video on it.

If you just erased the card you would be able to get back the video, but once you format it I am not sure you will be able to restore them.

I wouldn't have thought it should matter what the filetype is, if recovery software can "see" it - and providing you haven't saved any other files onto the card since you did it, there is a good chance you can get it back.

Unless your recovery program only looks for "pictures" (JPEG, TIFF), you should be able to recover any type of file with it. Video should actually be somewhat easier since you have fewer larger files rather than a whole lot of small ones.

out of curiosity i tested this once. I was able to recover photos no problem but never managed to recover any video. Even when using a program that looked for all types of files.
