First time at the zoo with my new lens -- here's a couple I was pretty happy with.

They all look a little OOF to me, the Lion shot is the best in my opinion... Keep Practicing and posting! :)

Thanks for the C&C, jloyo001 .. I definitely have to practice more to get a feel for the lens.

no problem, try shooting in RAW also so you can adjust the white balance and exposure of your images a lot better

Thanks for the advice, but I do shoot in RAW and adjusted the shots before posting -- I was tired tho, so I'll have to work with them some more.

I've been renting all the big zooms lately trying to settle on one, and if there's one common thing...they are long and they are heavy and you have to got to have an even steadier hand than normal. I shoot all day long with a 70-200 2.8 but it definitely took some getting used to shooting with a bigmos and the 100-400. Keep using it and pay attention to your grip, breathing and stance...you'll recognize that slight little movement from before is huge now with the long ole lens hanging out in front.

Thanks, BigDaddyOC .. I was using my tripod, but got a little lazy on some of the shots and used it as a monopod instead of opening up the legs every time I stopped to take a shot. I also need to work on getting the right exposure, but it will be fun practicing!

I tried a couple of handheld shots in my backyard after I got the lens and the optical stabilization on this lens works pretty well -- the attached shots were handheld.

Nice squirrel shot... another thing you want to work on when taking wildlife photos, is to always focus on the eyes, they are key in wildlife photography :)
