There are literally hundreds of types of daylilies with all kinds of coloration. (One website boasts that it can sell you bulbs for 1100 varieties.) The orange ones are common, but far from the only type.

thanks jgrussell i am only familiar with the orange ones that is why i asked.

man 1100 varieties that is a ton (but is that only for day lilies or the entire family of lilies?)

EDIT: i found the site it says that they have 1100 varieties and those fit into 70 different species

Thanks all for the comments and encouragement....I always get a kick out of comments from all over the place...Texas, Colorado, NJ, Mississippi.
And yes they are "PS" dark Snafu but are not too far off from the dark orange ones in my garden...they grow wild up here in north country.
