I've hunted through the SX10 posts looking for a mention of this one, but didn't find any. I was trying to set the camera so that the image kept the light through the leaves effect, showing the veins - but without the blowout glare-shine that's all too evident. I changed the MyColours to Neutral and Exposure Comp to -1/3 EV without much effect on the "blowout".

Exif: - Superfine, Std Macro, 1/640, f/4.0, ISO 80, Bias -1/3 EV, MyColours Neutral, Metering Evaluative, WB Sunny.

No PP - so the image shows what I did with the camera. Any help will be very much appreciated.

Regards, Dave.

That's a case where a polarizer will help by killing the reflections off the leaves.

Jon - Thanks for that. I've been trying to get the Lensmate adaptor but after a dozen-plus enquiries - including where I bought the camera - it seems that no agent here has it. I might be able to send the money and postage to a friend in Denver, so he can mail one to me.

Maybe it's a good thing that the accessories aren't available here - as the camera itself cost (in USDs converted) - 50% more than the US price - I fear to think what the under-US$20.00 in the US adaptor would cost here.

I've just been looking at Hoya 6-coat filters to suit the adaptor. As there's no indication in the ads that the ones we get here are set in Gold with inlaid Diamonds - it will be far cheaper to get those in the US, too.

Perhaps the Chinese will pick up on this market in Australia - they can "clone" just about anything....

Maybe the SX11 will have filter threads - to go with a proper Dial to replace the awkward "rotating ring".... :)

Thanks again, Regards, Dave.

Lensmate won't even ship it to Canada. I live only 1 mile away from Detroit, go figure
I have a friend who lives there and I was going to get one shipped to his addy, then I found out I could screw a 52mm filter on the front for free and still use the hood at the same time.
Works for me. ;)

Gerrydee - Sad to say, there are no filter threads on the SX10 (or SX1) - those "grooves" are for the lens-cover to snick-into. Have a close look in good light with a magnifying-glass. You'll see that the grooves are in parallel - not a screw-thread. If you damage the grooves that would affect re-sale or trade-in value.

A very kind Forum Member here has solved my problem - he bought extra Lensmate adapters, and will mail me one when I send the money for it and postage.

You might know somebody in the US who could buy one for you and mail it to you.

While Australia, to US Corporations, is a tiny and far-away market (though Sydney is bigger than any City in the US other than New York) - you'd think that at least the bigger photographic shops "just over the border" in Canada would carry the adapters, or get them in on request.

> Canon is doing very well out of Australians - my SX10 - in converted USDs - cost 50% more than in the US....

> Actually, I'll do a bit better when I've saved up for a Pentax KM DSLR (K2000 in the US) - those only cost 25% more than in the US - even when comparing the kits with the 2 Pentax, not Sigma, kit lenses.

> A 1-year Warranty for my SX10 costs AUD$55.00 (US$45.00), 3-years would cost AUD$85.00 (US$68.00) At present I have the 12-months Shop-Warranty - as required by law. I certainly won't pay another 15% of the (50% more than the US anyway) camera price to get a 3-year Warranty - when the same camera gets a "free" 3-year Warranty with the camera, elsewhere.

Regards, Dave.

gerrydee,

I too live in SW Ontario and have an adapter in the mail with other goodies, shipped a day after I placed the order earlier this wk. They indicate international shipping on the lensmate website so I don't understand why there is an Australian, Canadian, etc shipping issue.

Shipping to Central/Eastern Canada, Australia, & S. Africa - 7-14 days

best regards & luck,

best regards & luck,

Did you get delivery yet? I'm curious to see if they charged you duty and how much shipping cost.
I could get it delivered to a friend in Detroit, just across the river, he comes over every couple of weeks.
I think this 52mm filter on the end of the lens is going to be just fine.
I get to use my 52mm filters from my S3, the hood stays on and won't need the little plastic adapter thingy.
Believe me, this filter is on good and tight. I haven't heard of 1 person who have done it complaining that it did not work except the folks at Lensmate.
Hhmmm...I wonder why? ;)
