I am looking for a nice quality small bag that will just hold my 5d 24-70 or my 50d 28-135. I already have a nice backpack to carry all my gear and I have a Canon shoulder bag, but I'm looking for a smaller one where I can just carry the one body and lens, with the 24-70 being the larger of the two. It would also be nice to have a small pocket for a couple batteries and cf cards. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have you seen some of crumpler's line?
I like them because they are comfortable and is well paded.

If I want a bag for just my 5D/24-70 and a flash, I use the Domke F5XB. The outer pocket holds cards and batteries just fine.

the crumpler 1 or 2 million dollar homes would work I think. It would with the 28-135 for sure. My wife got one from the REI outlet sale (for ~$20 shipped) when I got the XSi, and of course I dropped the 5D in it to test fit and it works. Nice small package IMHO.

I am not without my Lowepro Toploader 75. My 5D with 24-70 w/ hood fits really well and it's got pockets for cards, batteries, rocket blower (small), remote shutter release.

^ yeah, I also have a TLZ... Nice bags, but bigger (at least mine -vs- my wife's crumpler is). but the TLZ has more options for how to carry them, belt, shoulder strap OR chest harness.

Thanks to all, looks like the Lowepro Toploader 75 would work well for me, as I can also use it with my 70-200...

I was in the same boat - I have a shoulder bag I can put my camera, lens, charger, flash and other gear in but wanted a case that was as small as poss for travel light excursions while offering decent protection.

I chose the Crumpler Jimmy Bo 300 which fits my 50D and 17-85 perfectly. It also has a divider where I put my polarizing filter in. You could easily slip a battery and card in there too.

I would highly recommend this.

I just picked up a Think Tank Digital Holster 20 and it fits the bill perfectly. I use it with my 5d MKII and 24-70 with hood reversed. It also "pops-down" to accommodate a 70-200. I love Think Tank!

Lowepro Classified 140. Top opening, built like a tank, doesn't look like a camera bag. Plenty space for small items.

Forgot to mention, one of the best things about the Think Tank bag is that it is shaped much like the camera, it contours in on the shutter release side so it is not unnecessarily bulky. It is great! It also fits nicely inside the bottom of my hiking backpacks (North Face Surge for trail, and an Asolo bag for the trails/mountains) to nicely protect my camera.

Another vote for the Think Tank 20. I bought mine this afternoon and I love it. Perfect fit for the 5D-II and 24-70 with the hood reversed. I can unzip and extend the bottom to accomodate the 70-200 lens as well. Very well designed and manufactured.

+2 on the Think Tank Digital Holster 20. Fits my camera with any 1 of my 3 lenses. Great build quality.
