A group of friends rented a private track this past weekend, and I was there too shoot the event. I used this chance to work on a few things, my panning in particular. John Thawley was nice enough to give me some pointers on some of my images

If I could suggest a couple of things; you might want to try to move the cars/subject off-center... especially vertically. I think the cars would look a little more aggressive if they were lower in the frame. You'd need to get a straight horizon to do that... but I think that would also add to the strength of the image. The slash angle is a little redundant.

...and I decided to make that my focus for the day. I also read through his Journal entry about panning, The Pan Shot - Taking Control (external link) that gave me some more technical insight into a skill that I had previously done purely based on trial/error and relying on what I had learned in the past.

So, with all of that background out of the way, the 6 that I liked the most from the day.

#5(while not a pan, and it is rather centered, I thought it came out well)

I really like the 5th shot.
And the B&W is a nice touch, I think it works well.

Thanks for the comments. The 5th shot turned out really nice, and the owner of the car really liked it to, it was the maiden track voyage for the car, 1986, with 182K miles on the clock.

The B&W has gotten mixed reviews so far. But I liked the look of it. It brought the car to the forefront, with so much grass and trees that in color were a lot of competing colors.

Thanks again.
