To continue on from the "POTN Aussie Club #6 - What does the 'P' stand for anyway??" thread ...........

I posted a wish-list of what I would like to see in a "Mega-Workshop"...So to speak.....Clicky Linky Thingy.

For it to go ahead there needs to be two really important things...

1) Students
2) An instructor

Finalising the syllabus, getting model(s) organised, organising the location and other logistical requirements, while important, are a moot point if conditions 1 & 2 are not met !!

If it's not in "your suburb" I suggested motel accommodation, say 6 or 7 nights at $100 / night, $300 each if you twin-share .......

If it wasn't on a public transport route, it's a safe bet that someone would have a car, driven there or hired, and we could car-pool.

I think it's IMPORTANT to keep the numbers LOW, say 3 - 4 maximum, sure that would increase the $$'s, but with this sort of time (and $$'s) commitment I'd rather pay more for a small group then get a class of 50 competing with one model and one instructor !!!

So, We need students and a photographer / instructor !!

Your thoughts ??

CH

I would be interested to be a student.

Where could we hold this?
Flights to and from melbourne/adelaide are quite cheap these days so i wouldn't count out having people fly over for it.

Would we need an different instructor for each day, say his/her specialized area of photography or keep the same instructor for the entire course?

With a few weeks notice flights anywhere are reasonably cheap, it might be hard to have multiple instructors, given we'd be using their studio....

But since it would be mostly studio based, someone should be able to handle this ?

I'm more then open to ideas !!

Questions have been asked..."Would it be 8 days straight or broken up into blocks" ?

I'd prefer to do it in one hit, easier for those travelling, a solid block of photography with no distractions, only one "event" to organise.

Eight days is one week (say Sunday - Sunday), might not be tooo hard to get a week off of school / uni / work, possibly easier them 4 * 2-day blocks ??

Of course....We're still looking for an instructor !!!

If it's not (in our case) Adelaide, that means we'd be flying to (say) Sydney and then driving to the location on Friday nights four times as opposed to just the one trip for a Sunday - Sunday gig........

But I hear you.........

Just a thought.

What if we were to have it over two-three weekends. Friday to sunday.

One weekend in adelaide, one in melbourne etc

it might just be worth looking into.

Then we gotta find three instructors...Or pay one instructor to fly around the country and supply him / her with accommodation and meals ........

why not a syd-melb-adel workshop

each city can stage a different facet of photography. Sydney can be architecture, adel can be studio and glamour work and melb can be landscape

just some thoughts

Agreed although i think the original workshop idea was focussing on people/portrait/studio work.

I was really interested in an intense "people" session, for me, I'm not so interested in landscape / architecture ...........

Did you see my original "syllabus" ?

Rather than look for a professional instructor to run sessions, what about using the people who are going to attend to run sessions in their particular field of expertise. If the object of the course is to improve ones creativity etc, there are a number of people here who could fit the bill adequately - maybe not professional paid photographers, but people with enough experience to run beginners and novices through techniques.

It would even help keep the costs down since the "lecturers" were going to be attending anyway.

Just a thought.

Never judge a person till you walk a mile in their shoes - by then it won't matter. You are a mile away and they have no shoes.
