Since we are at the "creating a site" theme, I would like to ask you MW...How much is the cost of owning a website, you know the servers, domain, etc...? How much do you pay and would you share the way of creating one with us here?
Thank you.

My friend and I have a website long time ago and it is still up and runing www.albaniandj.com (external link) and we are paying about $500 a year...earlier it was $750 a year...it is a non profit website so lately donations hel us keep it up...

Best regards,
Artan

Wow! WAY TOO MUCH MONEY! If you visit mine, www.garylatimer.com (external link) the whole site was built by me, using MS FrontPage 2003. I pay $16.95 per month only. That's it and the cost to register the domain name (can vary between $4 - $50.00 depending on where you go). The best thing to do is to come up with a "template" for your site to keep it as consistent as possible. Also, avoid tons of links out unless you create them so that a separate window opens for the link (like this forum does). Any other advice I can give you, I'll be glad to share with you....
Gary

I thank you sir! I personally am not that fond of it, but it works. Done completely in HTML. Many people use "Flash" or other plug-ins for their sites, however, after doing extensive research on the topic, I found that HTML is much more search-engine friendly... unless you have an expert program the meta-tags, etc, for optimization. If anyone knows a way to tweak the flash issue, please let me know so I can change my site over to flash.... it's prettier that way.

Thank you for your reply...

Well we have thousands visitors at the site and there is a lot of music storing in the servers and downloading and uploading....I'll discuss it with my friend about doing something about it...

In the future I plan to create my site about photography so I think I will do more search about this at that time, (not a lot of free time right now :( ), by the way I use dreamwaver to edit the site, once you learn it it's nice...

Best regards,
Artan.

If you are familiar with Dreamweaver it's a great developing tool. I personally use SwishMax.... user friendly and converts all files to FLASH. With all software I use, I try and go for high functionality with the least amount of learning curve time. Time is money, and I don't have enough of either.... so I try to minimize the time factor. Good luck with your project and contact me if you need assistance (if I can give you any that is). :-)
