I'm testing the RC on a laptop at work, and so far, I can't really tell the difference between 7 and Vista, other than the fancy new task bar. it kind of makes me feel disappointed that I shelled out $99 for the upgrade offer. Then again, I'm used to running Vista x64 and the test laptop is only x86.

I've said it before, but the new taskbar alone is robust enough for me to warrant an upgrade.

I have a question. I am getting a new HP Slim desktop PC next week and I want to uninstall the Vista it comes with as soon as I get it. I will install Windows 7.0 and will use it until the full version is released. What I want to know is: do I have to format the computer and/or reinstall Windows to install the full version? I don't have to purchase it as my University has an Academic Alliance from Microsoft and I get all their software for free, but I wouldn't like to format, reinstall, etc... etc...

You're better off doing a reformat. In fact, I don't think the RC supports upgrading at all.

1. Hell yeah. :)
2. 64 bit and don't look back.
3. Yes. You will be able to choose which one you want in the boot up menu.
4. Yes. I don't use it but you have the option. You also have remote media sharing. I.E. you can listen to your tunes from anywhere you can get a wi-fi connection. Secure? Yes...

Excellent - thank you!!!

I've finally worked my way through the morass of Microsoft registration screens and downloading now... :-)

All laptops have a secret (hidden) partition with the original software there. Do not erase this partition in any case you want to roll back.

Some laptops (the most expensive) gives a cd pack as well. If you dont get the cd pack, just be carefull and dont delete it (secret partition).

I remember DELL in UK gives the option (online order form) to choose if you want a cd pack or just a hidden partition).. I think.. Acer gives you a cd pack. Hp only if you pay more than 1k pounds .. :) whatever you get, just ask if you have any questions.

I personally I dont care about my laptop.. I format and install whatever I need. Even linux. But I always have a cd pack in any case I have to turn it in and get a new one :) :) :p

Fiqured out why I couldn't download, cookies disabled. Installed with xp in a dual boot set up on an older box, seems to be working fine.
