Hello I am a fairly new photographer and am looking for someone who would be willing to help me out. I am looking for two different types of help.

One help is purely web based. This would be someone who checks the forums (or their email) fairly frequently who wouldn't mind spending a few minutes every few days looking at my recent photos and offering advice, or simply answering a quick question I was somehow unable to answer on my own via the POTN forums or Google/Wiki. I do not feel justified making a topic for every little question I have, particularly as sometimes I realize they are very small, simple things that will likely not benfit other members, or would create an insignificant topic another new photographer would be unlikely to find.

Currently, while I have a solid grasp of the basics (aperture, s-speed, ISO) and how they work together, but am sometimes unsure how to arrange them appropriately for good effect. I also occasionally have questions on topics such as selecting interesting subjects, and learning to see a composition before the lens is raised. Many of my questions could be answered by simply looking at a couple pictures on Flickr.

My other interest is in a hands-on mentor. If you live in the Fredericksburg, VA area and are interested in sharing your expertise in a hands-on manner, please contact me. I am a 24 year old male, working M-F 7-4. I am mostly interested in shooting people, but would be willing to join with anyone who is experienced enough that they have something they could teach me. I am willing to also help out as an assistant to earn my keep and show my gratitude, while learning.

Igrado you might want to look at one of the local photography clubs. One can be found here. http://fbgphoto.com/-/fbgphoto/ (external link) This may be your best way to find a local knowledge base that can hellp to mentor you.

You can also take a look at this thread that started about Virginia members. https://photography-on-the.net …426312&highlight=virginia Depending on where you are located you may also be able to look at the DC or Maryland member threads.

Make sure to use the search function here. And most importantly look at all the stickies. You are not the first person with questions to ask and most of them are answered in the stickies at the top of each appropriate forum.

Feel free to pm me if you have any questions.
