Putting off doing some catch up work as the rain falls (make that monsoons as usual this summer) so thought I'd throw up some recent baseball images. Shot with the MkIII + 400 2.8 IS.

#1 - The sun has been going down fast this year and this game was no exception, bored and shooting from the top of the stands through a net.

#2 - Another game kinda bored since shot both teams already so shot from the stands. High draft pick making his 3rd or so appearance...

#3 - Screwed up the exposure so it's a bit too hot, from the stands again...

#4 - 6400 ISO walk off win. The guy getting mobbed hit a sac fly to center to score the winning run.

#5 - Shooting the batter and switched quick so a bit hot...out by a mile.

#6 - Through a net, this shot is cliche but had to do it to show how far this guy turns before delivering the pitch.

#7 - Japanese pitcher making his "AAA" debut, had to crawl down into the tunnel to get this angle at the end of the dugout. Wanted some different angles...

Seeing you're shots at 6400 ISO is what is keeping my focus on the MkIII as my next camera. I'm really liking #2.

3200 is good, 6400 is usable if necessary. Good to be able to shoot late in the game of course.

The end of game shots like that you have to learn where to go to get them. This wasn't one of those times, ha. I was leaving and they tied it so was at the back gate in the visitors bullpen waiting for it to just end and didn't want to miss these shots just in case. So, just luck.

Nice work Mike. Chris about talked me into the "3" today on the phone and now seeing this...wow, 6400 looks like 1250 in my "2".

I like #6...his unusual delivery made me look at it and say- "wait, where is he throwing that thing?"

Scott - the III is great at high ISO, though falls behind the D3 Nikon. Hopefully the MKIIIn or MKIV (whatever they name it) makes up for it.

Joe - I know I've seen guys turn before but not as much as this one. He actually goes a bit farther than you see but this one looked the best to show it.

Just a minor observation...

...That would be for fully-cooked, ready-to-eat, on-board .JPGs, though... However, when noise-reduction is considered off-board (including for .JPGs), then everything changes.

Great pictures, btw.

Cheers,
