no pics... yet.

I dont know much about lenses yet... but Im going to Tanzania in 2 weeks for a 10 day trip. Now I'm expecting great opportunity for landscape/nature/and wildlife shots.

I have the XS kit lense (which I might not even take with me) and the Sigma 18-200mm lense which is a great all-around lense.

What other lenses do you guys recommend??? I'm looking at the 50mm lense and maybe a wide angle lense (I dont really care for another zoom lense).

Comments/suggestions appreciated!! :)

*i just read the thread about good landscape lenses, how about a 50mm lense?

For me, 50mm is way too long for landscapes. I have a 35mm lens but I feel like I'm always lacking in width, so I end up using my Nikon 18-55 (I shoot Nikon).

The 18-200 Sigma lens is apparently not bad at 18mm, but quite bad at 35mm so stick as wide as you can with it. If you use an aperture of f9, which is good for landscapes anyways, you're at the sweet spot (as far as I've gathered, don't own it myself).

A 50mm prime lens is always nice ot have, I opted for a 35mm myself as I felt that 50mm was too long, but each to his own. I'll let the Canon experts drop by and comment further. :)
